D87 ACTS Committee Collecting New and Gently Used

Kid’s Books

The D87 ACTS (Advocating Character Through Service) Committee will be running a book drive, Glenbard Gives Books, at all four Glenbard High Schools from October 6 through October 22.  Staff, instructors, parents  and students are asked to bring new or gently used pre-K through 12 books to school during that time and place them in the designated collection boxes.  The greatest need is for new or gently used pre-K through eighth grade level books.

On the last collection day, Wednesday, October 22,  students, staff, and parents  are invited to help “Make their Mark for Literacy” directly after school in their high school cafeteria.  Come and enjoy refreshments and create bookplates and bookmarks to include with the donated books. Books will be donated to Book Worm Angels through the Carol Stream Rotary.  Book Worm Angels donates books to targeted Chicago Public Schools to be placed in classroom lending libraries.  Books will also be distributed to local agencies in Dupage County.

Special thanks goes out to the Carol Stream Rotary, Glenbard Student Leadership Council, D87 Key Clubs, Club Interact, parent volunteers and D87 staff for making this all Glenbard event possible.  Please contact Gilda Ross with questions at (630) 267-2975 or gilda_ross@glenbard.org.
