Glen Ellyn Character CoalitionĀ
| Latest News: |
"Thank You" to all for your support over the last 9YRS! In recent years, the GECC has experienced a steady decline in volunteers and in numbers of nominations for its Person of Character program, and it has not been able to reverse this trend. As a result, it has made the difficult decision to cease operations and to donate its small fund balance to four local philanthropic organizations: The Glen Ellyn Children’s Resource Center, the Glenbard Parent Series, The Glen Ellyn Park District Scholarship Fund and the BR Ryall YMCA. The Glen Ellyn Character Coalition has been privileged to publicly honor outstanding members of our community whose contributions might otherwise have gone unsung. We are grateful for the participation and support of many, and know that regardless of whether the GECC exists, the Six Pillars of Character remain important to the individuals and organizations within the community. |
| Our Vision: | Our community, strengthened by character development in our schools, families and businesses, is a guiding light for all citizens and the foundation of a healthy society. |
| Our Mission: | Our mission is to foster a common language that recognizes, discusses, and supports the six pillars of character throughout Glen Ellyn. This will result in a community that teaches, enforces, advocates and models trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. |
| Our Goals: |
Make a character education program visible in all community areas (YMCA, Library,Village Hall, Park Dist.,Police Dept., Fire Dept, Schools, Businesses, etc.) |
